Indian Independence Day 2023: History
The East India Company defeated the last Bengali ruler in the Battle of Plassey in 1757. The British took over India after this incident. The First War of Independence, commonly known as the Indian Rebellion, took place in 1857. It was a significant attempt to end British rule, but it was unsuccessful.
The Indian National Congress, the country of India’s first political party, was founded in 1885. Indian militants demanded “Swaraj,” or self-rule, after World War I concluded in 1918. At a meeting in Lahore in 1929, the Indian National Congress proclaimed “Purna Swaraj,” or complete independence for India.
Lord Mountbatten divided British India into India and Pakistan on August 15, 1947. In 1947, this was designated as the first India Independence Day.
Indian Independence Day 2023: Celebrations
Flags get hosted around the country. At Delhi’s Red Fort, the Prime Minister hoists the national flag to commemorate this significant event. In addition to the flag-raising ceremony, there is a parade and ethnic dances. There are celebrations all around the country.
Special programs are held in schools and colleges to educate students about the background of this day. Kids enjoy this time by flying kites with three colors. The event is a well sought out one across the country, it reminds us of the brave soldiers and heroes who gave their all to bring the country its long lost freedom.
