Khanapara Teer is conducted by the Government of Meghalaya, the beautiful land which is nestled in the Himalayas and kissed by the clouds. The word Meghalaya means abode in the clouds. The state is covered by lush green forests and also receives bountiful rainfall. In fact a place called Mawsynram receives the highest rainfall in India. It is here the Khanapara Teer event is held. The Khanapara Teer is a lottery event and the participants of the event have to correctly guess the exact number of arrows shot by archers which have hit the target.
Khanapara Teer is an archery event which is completely legal and organized by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Club. It takes p[lace in two steps and in each step the archers have to shoot a fixed number of arrows in a specified time. participants can buy lottery tickets of varying values from Rs 1 to Rs 100 and they guess the correct numbers of arrows which have hit the target.
The Khanapara Teer is completely legal and is governed by the provisions of the Meghalaya State Amusement Tax Act. The results of the Teer event are declared between 4.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. The results can be seen at the official website of the Khanapara Teer event. The participant can obtain seven times the amount they have invested, if they can guess the correct number of arrows which have hit the target by the archers. The tickets can be purchased from 5000 ticket counters from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm at counters every day except holidays.

Khanapara Teer is held in the Polo Grounds in Meghalaya and the word Khanapara originates from Khanapara of RiBhoi district. The Teer event is organized by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Club which is a group of 12 archery clubs from specific locality, at Themmarwet near East Khanapara, RiBhoi district, Meghalaya.
