Deposit deficit amounts or face revocation of projects: RERA

RERA Warns Mahira Homes of Revocation or Deposit

The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Gurugram has issued a strong warning to the promoter of affordable housing projects, Mahira Homes, stating that it must deposit deficit amounts or face the revocation of its projects. This decision comes as Mahira Homes has failed to complete the projects and deliver the units to homebuyers as per the Affordable Housing policy of the Haryana Government.

RERA Chairman, Arun Kumar, announced that the Authority has initiated the process of the RERA registration of all five projects of Mahira Homes. He also stated that the promoter has been asked to deposit the deficit amount diverted from the RERA accounts and that failing to do so could result in the unfreezing of its accounts. Additionally, an FIR has been registered against the Mahira promoter.

To address the situation, RERA has engaged an agency to conduct a techno-economic feasibility study of the stalled projects in order to prepare a comprehensive action plan for their completion.

In a transparent and interactive session, more than a hundred aggrieved homebuyers representing the five projects of Mahira Homes were given the opportunity to have a direct conversation with RERA Chairman and three members. The objective of the meeting was to hear the grievances of the homebuyers and work towards a resolution in accordance with the provisions of the RERA Act.

During the meeting, the allottees of Mahira 68 project reported that construction has only reached 60 to 70 percent completion despite having paid almost the full amount to the builder. Additionally, allottees from other projects demanded a roadmap from the Authority, as construction progress has been minimal despite an adequate amount of time having elapsed.

Furthermore, aggrieved landowners, who are also license holders in the Mahira 103 housing project, raised a complaint with the Authority, alleging that Mahira promoters forged their signatures to obtain a license and called for the revocation of the project’s RERA registration.

The Authority has taken a firm stand in addressing the grievances of the homebuyers and ensuring the completion of the Mahira Homes projects. The transparency and proactive approach of RERA Gurugram are crucial in bringing justice to the affected homebuyers and upholding the standards of the real estate industry in the region.
