J&K Police will ensure no youth joins terrorism in future: DGP

Jammu and Kashmir Police to Implement Plan to Prevent Youth from Joining Terrorism

Srinagar, Feb 17 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP), R.R. Swain, announced on Saturday that the police will be implementing a plan to prevent youth from joining terrorism in the region. Speaking at the highly popular Public Grievances Redressal Programme in Baramulla town, Swain stated that the police are in touch with parents, teachers, civil society, and masjid heads to ensure the success of the plan.

Swain emphasized that even youth too young to grow a beard are becoming victims when they pick up a gun. He pointed out that the real culprits are those who provide the gun and money to these young individuals, and promised tough action against those who lure young minds into terrorism.

During the public grievances redressal programme, Swain assured swift resolution of issues related to the police headquarters, while conceding that matters related to investigations and inquiries may take more time.

The DGP also highlighted the challenge of narco-terrorism, expressing concern over drug addicts acting as peddlers. He pledged to take action against the big players involved in supplying drugs and poisoning the youth, and advocated for the establishment of more drug de-addiction centres in collaboration with the government.

In conclusion, Swain demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing the issue of youth radicalization and narco-terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The implementation of the plan to prevent youth from joining terrorism signifies a proactive approach by the police to safeguard the future of the region.
