Alan Ritchson discusses the reasons behind losing the roles of ‘Thor’ and ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

In a recent interview, actor Alan Ritchson opened up about missing out on major roles in ‘Thor’ and ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’. Ritchson revealed that he didn’t take the audition seriously for ‘Thor’ and doubted the importance of acting for the superhero role that eventually went to Chris Hemsworth.

Ritchson’s audition for ‘Thor’ in 2011 didn’t go well as the casting members felt he lacked the necessary acting skills for the role, despite his previous stint as Aquaman in ‘Smallville’. Later, when he auditioned for Finnick Odair in ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, the reason for rejection was his age, with casting members feeling he was too old at 30 for the character that ultimately went to Sam Claflin.

Despite facing rejections, Ritchson continued to audition for superhero roles and tried out for the lead role in ‘Titans’, only to be told he was too old for the part which was ultimately played by Brenton Thwaites. However, Ritchson did get the opportunity to play the role of Hank Hall, Hawk, in the Max series. The actor remains determined despite these setbacks and continues to pursue his career in Hollywood.
