Reviving the Legacy of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar: Randeep Hooda’s Perspective

Actor Randeep Hooda, who is all set for his directorial debut with ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’, clarified that the film is not propaganda but an antidote to the propaganda against freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Speaking at the trailer launch event in Mumbai, he emphasized on countering false perceptions.

Randeep Hooda, essaying the role of Savarkar, addressed the media saying, “This is an anti-propaganda film. It will counter all the propaganda against Savarkar that has been going on since decades. He was not a ‘maafiveer’ (apologist).”

Highlighting the legal aspect, Randeep explained, “There were petitions and bail pleas. It’s the right of any prisoner. If anyone has been to a court, they would know how the court is addressed. Savarkar wanted to contribute to the country culturally and politically.”

The actor stressed that Savarkar was pivotal in secret societies for Independence and asserted that the film will showcase his true story, breaking free from false perceptions. He lamented the lack of films on Indian icons and mentioned the significance of showcasing historical figures like Savarkar.

‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ is scheduled for release in cinemas on March 22, offering a fresh perspective on the life of a significant freedom fighter. The film aims to shed light on the true essence of Savarkar’s contributions to the country amidst ongoing misinformation campaigns.
