Anurag Singh Thakur kicks off Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 3.0, joins Rohit Sharma in a friendly game of cricket
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 3.0 in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, with cricket captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid as chief guests. The event aims to engage 75,000 players, building on the success of previous editions with over 45,000 participants.
Thakur emphasized the importance of sports, quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Khelega India toh Khilega India’ initiative. The event not only provides a platform for local talent but also encourages national and international participation, showcasing the potential of players in his Hamirpur parliamentary constituency.
Rohit Sharma commended the event’s impact on developing future players and elevating India’s sporting talents across various disciplines. Thakur, Sharma, and Dravid engaged in a friendly cricket match, showcasing their passion for sports and promoting active participation at all levels.
Previous editions of MP Sports Mahakumbh saw significant participation, with over 1,400 teams and 42,700 youths in 2018, and 2,300 teams and 45,700 youths in 2023. The success of these events highlights the growing interest and opportunities for sports enthusiasts at the grassroots level, with substantial prize money awarded to participants.
Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 3.0 continues to be a pivotal platform for promoting sports and nurturing young talent, with a focus on inclusivity and community engagement.
