Jharkhand Farmer Featured in ‘To Kill A Tiger’ to Attend Oscars Gala

Priyanka Chopra Jonas stole the show at a special screening of ‘To Kill A Tiger’, a powerful documentary directed by Nisha Pahuja. The documentary follows the story of Jharkhand farmer Ranjit, who stood up for his daughter after a traumatic incident.

TV actor Sahil Salathia praised Ranjit’s courage, stating, “We need more role models like him in India.” Ranjit’s daughter, who was raped at 13, is now aspiring to join the police force, thanks to her father’s unwavering support.

It took Pahuja eight years to bring Ranjit’s story to the screen. Executive produced by Mindy Kaling and Dev Patel, the documentary sheds light on the dark realities of violence against women in India. Despite this, the odds of winning an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature may be slim, with competing films like ’20 Days in Mariupol’ and ‘Bobi Wine: The People’s President’ generating buzz.

Sahil praised Pahuja’s impactful filmmaking, stating, “The documentary will break your heart and make you cry.” He also highlighted the alarming statistic that a girl is raped every 20 minutes in India, emphasizing the urgent need for societal change and support for victims of sexual violence.
