IPL 2024: Franchises Reportedly Collecting Players’ Passports; BCCI Sources Refute Claims of League Relocating from India

With General Elections dates about to be announced by the Election Commission of India, some actions by IPL stakeholders have sparked speculations of the T20 league being moved out of India. IPL franchises have collected player passports as a precautionary measure in case of a shift due to elections.

Sources in the BCCI have confirmed that the IPL will indeed take place in India as scheduled, despite the precautionary measures taken by the franchises. The collection of passports is seen as a proactive step to avoid any last-minute issues in case of unforeseen changes.

Beginning on March 22, the first leg of the IPL will kick off with a match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Despite initial concerns about a possible relocation of the league due to elections, the BCCI has announced the schedule for the first leg of IPL 2024, reassuring fans that the tournament will stay in India.

The speculation surrounding the potential move of the IPL out of India due to the general elections mirrors past instances where the league had to be relocated. However, with the BCCI’s firm stance on holding the tournament in India, cricket fans can look forward to enjoying the extravaganza on home turf.
