CII suggests India can boost job opportunities in esports and game development sector

India’s gaming sector is set for growth with potential for job creation in esports and game development, as per experts at the CII. President R. Dinesh highlighted the sector’s exponential growth and underscored its importance on both national and international levels. The India Gaming Show saw participation from over 70 exhibitors.

The sixth edition of the India Gaming Show featured representatives from 10 countries, with Indonesia making its debut as the guest country. Despite currently holding a market share of under 1%, India’s gaming sector shows potential for expansion in PC, mobile, and console gaming. Dinesh emphasized the opportunity for India to lead the development of tailor-made games for global recognition.

Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII, stressed the need for a responsible policy framework in the rising gaming sector. He called for promoting responsible gaming practices to educate the public and promote ethical usage. Banerjee also highlighted the importance of innovation and skill development to enhance talent and improve demographics, including a 49% increase in women in the sector.

With the gaming industry on the rise, experts at the CII foresee India playing a key role in the global esports and game development market. The India Gaming Show served as a platform for industry players to showcase their products and discuss the future of gaming in the country. The event highlighted the potential for job creation and economic growth in the gaming sector.
