Kuku FM signs content licensing agreement with Sweden’s Storytel

New Delhi, March 20 (IANS) – Audio content platform Kuku FM has partnered with Sweden-based e-book and audiobook subscription service provider Storytel to integrate over 3,300 audiobooks and 26,000 hours of fresh content. This move aims to enhance the vernacular audiobook market in India.

Vinod Kumar Meena, Co-Founder & COO of Kuku FM, stated, “From entertaining stories to simplifying complex financial concepts, Kuku FM offers its listeners the diverse range of content that they deserve. This deal with Storytel is another big step in that direction.”

In a bid to strengthen the content ecosystem, Kuku FM had raised $25 million in a Series C funding round last year. With the Indian audio streaming industry witnessing rapid growth, the partnership with Storytel comes at a crucial time, as the OTT audio market is projected to reach $1.8 billion by 2025.

Yogesh Dashrath, Publishing Manager at Storytel India, expressed, “Our fantastic catalogue of titles from India and produced at the highest quality will now be available to even more listeners via Kuku FM. The wider distribution will benefit listeners as well as all of our writers & publishing partners.” The integration of Storytel’s library into the Kuku FM platform is expected to be completed within the next quarter.
