Haryana Secures Final Spot with 4-0 Victory Over Jharkhand

PUNE, March 22 (IANS) – Haryana clinched a spot in the final of the 14th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship 2024 by defeating Hockey Jharkhand 4-0 at the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium on Friday. This win marked Haryana’s third victory over Jharkhand in five encounters.

The first semi-final showcased Haryana’s persistent attacks from the right side, countered by Jharkhand’s sturdy defense. Despite multiple attempts by both teams, the first quarter concluded without any goals.

Haryana broke the deadlock in the 27th minute with Navneet Kaur scoring off an indirect penalty corner, giving them a 1-0 lead at halftime. Their momentum continued in the second half, with Jyoti and Sharmila Devi adding two more goals in quick succession.

Jharkhand struggled to find the back of the net, with missed opportunities from Sangita Kumari and Mahima Tete. Haryana sealed the victory with Deepika’s goal in the 57th minute, ending the match with a scoreline of 4-0.

Haryana will face the winner of the second semi-final between Hockey Madhya Pradesh and Hockey Maharashtra in the final showdown.

In the end, Hockey Haryana emerged victorious with a convincing 4-0 win over Hockey Jharkhand, with goals from Navneet Kaur, Jyoti, Sharmila Devi, and Deepika. The halftime score was 1-0 in favor of Haryana.
