New Delhi, March 23 (IANS) Urging people to understand the importance of the ‘Golden Hour’, cardiologist Dr. Devi Shetty emphasized that quick emergency response can be the difference between life and death in medical emergencies.
According to Dr. Shetty, the ‘Golden Hour’ refers to the critical time frame of receiving prompt medical intervention within 60 minutes of a traumatic incident. The duration may vary based on the severity of the condition, with the first hour being crucial for a brain stroke, while a person has four to six hours in the case of a cardiac arrest.
“People need to realize the significance of the ‘Golden Hour’ and ensure they reach the appropriate hospital in time for conditions like stroke or life-threatening accidents,” Dr. Shetty stated. He warned that landing in the wrong hospital could result in delays, making it challenging to save a life, even with extensive medical intervention.
To raise awareness about the Golden Hour, Narayana Health has launched India’s first medical docu-series, “InsidER.” This series, comprised of 10 episodes, is set to premiere exclusively on Jio Cinema, Jio TV, and TV+ on March 27, showcasing real-life stories of patients facing critical emergencies.
Dr. Shetty also stressed the importance of learning CPR and being prepared to act as a savior in emergency situations.
