Goan sailor caught in honey trap, loses Rs 1.35 crore

In a shocking incident, a seaman from Goa fell victim to a honey-trap on a dating app, leading to an extortion of Rs 1.35 crore from him. Three accused individuals have been booked in this case, as confirmed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Santosh Desai.

According to Desai, the accused individuals had been extorting money from the complainant since 2020. They honey-trapped him on a dating app, recorded a video, and demanded money with the threat of making it viral if he refused to comply.

“We have received a complaint from one Delano Fernandes, 45, resident of Cansaulim in South Goa, stating that he was looted of Rs 1.35 crore by the three accused persons. We have registered the case and are trying to verify the names of accused persons,” Desai revealed.

The police have registered an offence against Zeeta Fernandes, Mary Fernandes, and Shankar Jadhav, although the identity of the latter is yet to be established. The victim finally decided to seek help by lodging a police complaint at the Verna Police station, prompting further investigation into the matter.
