SAIL sees record increase in saleable steel output to 18.4 million tonnes in 2023-24

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has achieved a remarkable 7 per cent increase in saleable steel output, reaching a record level of 18.4 million tonnes for the financial year ending on March 31, 2024. This growth is compared to the previous year 2022-23, as stated in an official release on Monday.

In addition to the rise in saleable steel output, SAIL also achieved its highest-ever sales volume of 17.1 million tonnes in 2023-24, marking a growth of over 5 per cent from the previous year. Furthermore, the company saw a 6 per cent increase in hot metal production and a 5 per cent increase in crude steel output during the fiscal year.

SAIL’s Chairman, Amarendu Prakash, attributed this exceptional performance to the company’s strategic alignment with the growing demand in the steel market. He highlighted SAIL’s commitment to further enhancing production capabilities while staying responsive to evolving market needs. The steel behemoth achieved record production figures of 20.5 million tonnes of hot metal and 19.2 million tonnes of crude steel in the financial year.

This success reflects SAIL’s dedication to meeting market demands and underscores its position as a key player in the steel sector. As the company continues to strengthen its production capacities, it remains focused on adapting to the changing dynamics of the market.
