Poll picture suggests INDIA bloc winning in Kerala: But will Congress or Left emerge victorious?

Thiruvananthapuram, April 13 (IANS) Even before the poll dates were announced one thing was certain in Kerala, that the winner would be the INDIA bloc. The traditional rivals, the ruling CPI(M)-led Left and the Congress-led Opposition, have always been engaged in a fierce poll battle, with the BJP-led NDA finishing a distant third.

In the 2019 polls, the Congress-led UDF won 19 seats, the Left only one, and the BJP was just a runner-up in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency. The vote share stood at 47.48% for UDF, 36.29% for Left Front, and a mere 15.64% for NDA.

As the April 26 polls approach, the BJP is expressing confidence in making a significant impact in the elections. However, the focus remains on which INDIA bloc partner will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.

Pre-poll surveys suggest that the UDF has an edge, but its vote share may decrease as the Left and NDA gain ground. The BJP’s increased vote share could benefit the Left in some constituencies, raising doubts about its impact on all 20 seats.

A political analyst highlights that if the BJP’s increased vote share benefits the UDF candidates in some constituencies, the crucial factor that may sway the results is the Muslim votes. The Left is hopeful of securing a larger tally in the elections compared to 2019.

In conclusion, as the political landscape in Kerala evolves, all eyes are on the upcoming elections to witness whether the BJP can challenge the dominance of the INDIA bloc.
