Drew Barrymore hopes to provide her daughters with acting opportunities when they are older

Los Angeles, April 15 (IANS) Drew Barrymore, known for her iconic roles in Hollywood, reveals that while her children express interest in acting, she believes they should wait until they are older. Barrymore’s daughters, Olive and Frankie, aged 11 and 10, are curious about entering the entertainment industry.

In an interview, Barrymore shared her perspective on her children potentially pursuing acting, stating, “When I first had kids, I remember people asking me, ‘Well, would you want your kids to go into the business?’ And it always gave me such a sad feeling, as if this business was so toxic, like, ‘Ew’.” Despite her successful career in entertainment, Barrymore wants her daughters to explore other opportunities before diving into showbiz.

Having grown up in a family of actors, with relatives who were also in the industry, Barrymore acknowledges the value that Hollywood has brought to her life. She started her own acting career at a young age, appearing in commercials and iconic films like ‘E.T.’, but she wants her children to focus on school activities and explore their interests before venturing into acting.

Barrymore emphasized that while her children express a desire to be in movies or on social media, she believes in setting boundaries. She mentioned, “My kids ask me all the time — they would love to be in film or on social media or sing or whatever. I always just say, ‘School plays, theater camp, everything (yes)’. But being in the public eye, (no) until…’”

The actress expressed her commitment to supporting her children’s aspirations when they are older, indicating that there is no specific age when they will be ready for the entertainment industry. Barrymore stated, “It’s up there, but your kid will present themselves in a way where you’ve got to listen to them and support them and trust them. And I don’t know what number that is, but it’s probably north of 14, 15.”

As a parent, Barrymore wants to be a guiding force for her daughters when the time comes for them to pursue their dreams in acting. Until then, she remains focused on allowing them to explore different interests and experiences before stepping into the spotlight.
