Adani Group’s Ambuja Cements Acquires My Home Group’s Cement Grinding Unit in Tamil Nadu
Ahmedabad, April 15 (IANS) – Ambuja Cements, a part of the Adani Group, has announced the acquisition of My Home Group’s cement grinding unit in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, for Rs 413.75 crore. This move is aimed at enhancing Ambuja’s coastal footprint in the southern markets. The acquisition, funded through internal accruals, increases Adani Group’s total cement capacity to 78.9 MTPA.
The Tuticorin plant, spread across 61 acres, comes with a long-term fly ash supply agreement for raw material sourcing. Ajay Kapur, CEO of the Cement Business at Adani Group, expressed, “We are glad to announce this acquisition, strengthening our foothold in the region and aligning perfectly with our commitment to delivering high-quality products and services to our customers.”
Ambuja Cements will leverage the infrastructure and geographical advantages of the new plant, inheriting the existing dealer network and retaining current employees for a seamless transition. The company aims to utilize the coastal footprint and state-of-the-art marine infrastructure and equipment to ensure the delivery of top-quality products.
“This acquisition provides access to the southern market customers with an opportunity to experience and instil their trust in one of the most iconic and trusted brands – Ambuja Cement,” the company noted. With the limited availability of limestone in Tamil Nadu, the coastal movement of clinker from the Sanghipuram Plant will ensure cost-efficient operations.
Ambuja Cements, along with its subsidiaries ACC Ltd and Sanghi Industries Ltd, has now reached a cement capacity of 78.9 MTPA with 18 integrated cement manufacturing plants and 19 cement grinding units nationwide. Recently, Ambuja was recognized as ‘India’s Most Trusted Cement Brand’ by TRA Research in its ‘Brand Trust Report, 2024.’
