Farmers hold a Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar to campaign against Yogi Government

Kisan mahapanchayat organized by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha held in Muzaffarnagar of Uttar Pradesh today. Farmers across the country gathered for a Mahapanchayat to protest against the farm laws and also take a stand against the NDA government in the centre and state.

300 farmer unions from 15 states participated in the event organized by the BKU leader Rakesh Tikait. The area is also home to the Tikait who belongs to the Baliyan khap headed by his elder brother Naresh Tikait. The place is also dominated by various Khap communities and had a notable presence by them in the event.

Tikait called PM Modi, CM Yogi, and Home Minister Amit Shah as outsiders in UP. Tikait said that he had no objection if they become PM after winning from Uttarakhand or Gujarat but on the soil of Uttar Pradesh they will not be tolerated.

Rakesh Tikait in the Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar while addressing thousands of farmers said that if the government understands something, it will be good. Such meetings will be held across the country. We need to save the country from being sold. Farmers, workers, and young people should be allowed to live.

He also made a demand of Rs 450 per quintal SAP for sugarcane in UP and attacked the economic policies of the Modi government. He further said that India has been put up for sale and national assets are being sold to the private sector.

He gave a new slogan to farmers as a “fasalon ke daam Nahi to vote nahi” to target UP and the central government. He highlighted how this government needs to be targeted by not giving a vote.

Samajwadi leader Prof Sudhir Panwar said that slogans like “Har Har Mahadev” and “Allah Hu Akbar” were raised. The meeting was successful in expressing the message of Hindu-Muslim unity.

8,000 security men were deployed to manage the law and order situation at the event. The farmers have planned to hold the next mahapanchayat meeting in Karnal on September 7. They have planned to hold 17 mega meetings in cities in six months including Lucknow, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur and they also plan to hold a strike all over India on September 27.

The farmers will continue to protest across Uttar Pradesh, where they will campaign against the ruling Yogi Adiyanath government till the elections of 2022.

Thirty-two farmer unions from Punjab also demanded that the state government should withdraw the cases registered against protestors by September 8 or else the farmers will hold a bigger protest.
