India makes 10 day quarantine for UK citizens under reciprocal measures on UK citizens arriving in India from the UK according to the media reports. New regulations will come into effect from October 4 and will apply to all UK nationals arriving from the UK.
All UK nationals arriving in India from the UK, irrespective of their vaccination status, will have to undertake – pre-departure Covid-19 RT-PCR test within 72 hours before travel and also an RT-PCR test on arrival at the airport and again one more RT-PCR test on Day 8 after arrival.
They also need to quarantine at home or the destination address for 10 days after the arrival.
Recently UK government updated the international travel advisory for Indian travelers and included AstraZeneca Covishield among the eligible COVID-19 vaccine formulations. But the UK still kept India out of the 18 countries on an approved vaccinations list and made Indians follow rules set out for non-vaccinated travelers.
Indian travelers who have received both doses of the Covishield vaccine will be considered unvaccinated and will have to undergo self-isolation for 10 days. Indian travelers still need to quarantine. The UK earlier said that they have a major issue with India’s vaccination certificate and not with the vaccine. Both the countries are holding talks to mutually resolve the matter.

Indian government already warned of “reciprocal measures” if the UK does not change their rules of quarantine for Indians and finally they have issued similar guidelines for UK travelers.
Covishield is one of the main vaccines being administered in India is originally made by Oxford AstraZeneca of the UK still the UK didn’t exempt vaccinated people from quarantine.
Once the Covishield is approved a pre-departure PCR test or quarantine for 10 days will no longer be required for Indians.
