IPL 2024: Cummins expresses gratitude to ‘amazing crowd’ following ‘insane’ victory against MI

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins expressed relief and excitement after his team’s victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) in a thrilling IPL showdown. With a record-breaking total of 277 for 3, SRH’s explosive batting display led by Abhishek Sharma’s fastest fifty secured the win.

Cummins praised Abhishek’s fearless approach, stating, “It felt like they were finding boundaries whenever they wanted. It was good to finish on the winning side.” The partnership with Heinrich Klaasen’s unbeaten 80 propelled SRH past the previous highest IPL total set by RCB in 2013.

In response, Mumbai Indians showcased resilience in their chase, led by Rohit Sharma’s exquisite strokes. Despite reaching 182 for three in 14 overs, MI fell short of the daunting target. Tim David’s valiant efforts were commendable but not enough to salvage the match for his side.

Reflecting on the challenges posed by the high-scoring encounter, Cummins acknowledged the need to adapt to conditions and embrace the unpredictability of T20 cricket. “It’s obviously a good wicket. You have to suck up that you will go for some boundaries.” The atmosphere of the first home game added to the excitement for both teams.
