Kajari Teej Vrat Katha

Talking about the Vrat Katha of Kajari Teej, A Poor Brahmin lived in a village. His condition was very poor. That he could not even eat for two times. In such a situation, one day the Brahmin’s wife decided to observe Kajari Teej Vrat and asked her husband to bring gram sattu for her fast. Hearing this, the Brahmin got upset, because he did not have so much money to buy sattu.

However, the Brahmin reached the moneylender’s shop. There he saw that the moneylender was sleeping. In such a situation, the Brahmin secretly went to the shop and started taking Sattu. In the meantime, the moneylender woke up and saw the Brahmin. He grabbed the Brahmin and the thief started shouting. The brahmin then said that he is not a thief and is carrying only one and a half kilos of sattu.

The brahmin told that his wife has fasted for Kajari Teej and needs puja samagri for her. So he has taken only sattu. Hearing this, the moneylender took the search of the Brahmin and found nothing in his possession. The moneylender’s eyes became moist. He told the Brahmin that from now on he would consider his wife as his sister. After this, the moneylender sent off the Brahmin by giving him money and goods. It is said that fasting on this day fulfils all the wishes and long life of the husband.

Significance

The festival is an age-old festival. To observe the puja, married women visit their parental home. The vrat is observed for the Long-life and well-being of their Husbands. This vrat is also considered to be auspicious for unmarried girls. It is believed, that unmarried girls who observe this vrat are blessed with a suitable life partner.

As per Hindu Lunar Calendar, this year (2021) Kajari Teej will be observed on 25 August, Wednesday.

Shubh Muhurat & Puja Timing

  • Auspicious Tithi Begins: 04:04 PM, August 24.
  • Auspicious Tithi Ends: 04:18 PM, August 25.

Puja Vidhi

  • Wake up early in the morning.
  • Take a pledge to observe vrat for a whole day without eating or drinking.
  • Make idols of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati from Cow Dunk. Instead of this, you can also purchase idols of both from the market.
  • Place idols of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati on a new red cloth at the place of worship.
  • Worship both and offer 16 items known as bindi, necklaces, earrings, flowers in the hair, finger rings, bangles, armlets, waistbands, ankle-bells, kajal, toe-rings, henna, perfume, sandal wood paste.
  • Recite Kajari Teej Katha and conclude the puja with aarti.
