Mohini Ekadashi 2022: Mohini Ekadashi Importance, Worship Method Shubh Muhurat

Mohini Ekadashi is the most significant of all Ekadashi in Hindu religion. The terrible asura Bhasmasura was given a vow that he could turn anyone to ashes by just touching. Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini to entice the asura to place his hand on his own head and thus end his life. The Mohini Ekdashi fast is kept on the day and it is believed to get rid of all the ill effects of the sins a person commit in his previous births.

As per the Hindu Panchang or calendar the Ekadashi date of Vaishakh Shukla Paksha is on 12th May 2022, Thursday. This year Mohini Ekadashi is falling on Thursday. Thursday is also a special day since it is also the day representing Lord Vishnu That is why the importance of Mohini Ekadashi this year has increased manifold.

Significance Of Mohini Ekadashi Fast

Mohini Ekadashi fast and its importance can be gauged by the fact that its descripotion appears prominently in the ancient puranas. The fast is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and if done properly will atone all the sins committed knowingly or unknowingly by a person. Charity or Daan is also important on the day of this fast. After worshiping Lord Vishnu, one should distribute food and money to the poor and the needy. Observing the fast will fill a person with positive energy and will make him healthy and wise.

Samudra Manthan Story

The Gods and the Asuras were always locked in a battle and never accepted the existence of other. Once the Asura King Bali captured the three worlds and the Gods were driven out of heaven. Lord Vishnu advised the Gods to churn the ocean of milk. The asuras were also roped in and the churning process began.  The serpent which was used as the rope to churn the ocean started spewing poison which was consumed by Lord Shiva to save the world. 14 gems or precious entities were produced including Lord Laxmi and nectar which will make anyone immortal. Once again a fight started between the Gods and the Asuras. Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini and the Asuras were bewitched by her beauty. The Gods quietly consumed the nectar and the Asuras were fooled.
