Nick Kyrgios has never been shy to express his opinions, and he has certainly gotten into his good share of fights with spectators. He was back at it in the Wimbledon final of 2022 against Novak Djokovic.

Kyrgios And The Fan

This time, Kyrgios claimed a woman in the audience was detracting him as he was serving. He asked the referee to eject her and said that during the third set, she almost cost him the match.

“She’s still here, why? While the game is still going on and she is completely inebriated, “Kyrgios remarked. “What is appropriate?”

She was the supporter who “seems that she’s had like 700 beers dude,” Kyrgios stated in response to the umpire’s statement that he was not sure exactly the fan he was talking to.

Kyrgios Vs Djokovic

Kyrgios dropped the third set 6-4 to Djokovic before losing the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-7 to the Serbian. This was Kyrgios’ first time playing in a Grand Slam final (7-3).

She didn’t, according to Kyrgios, who claimed just after the tournament that he didn’t even think it cost him the game but that he didn’t need to get someone “totally wrecked talking to my point in, point out.”

Since supporters are required to keep quiet during play, he has the authority to ask that any loud fans be removed if they were disrupting him when he was serving.

Kyrgios is known for his on-court tantrums, but he also has a reputation for them. During Wimbledon, he received two fines, one of which was for using audible profanity in a big game against Stefanos Tsitsipas. He screamed at the umpire throughout that game and referred to him as “a disgrace.”

Kyrgios has received the most fines of any player in ATP history.

When Kyrgios won his second Wimbledon quarterfinal, he defied the dress code of Wimbledon by appearing in his media briefing wearing a red hat as well as red shoes. This led to an entertaining argument with a journalist about the rule.
