Noida is all set to get its first-ever animal shelter. It will be constructed in the residential areas to protect and feed injured and sick stray dogs. A vital part of the latest Noida Authority’s recently unveiled ‘dog policy’. According to the officials, the Authority will unveil the shelters in Sectors 135 and 50. The RWAs will be managing the shelters along with being responsible for the stray dogs even in extreme weather conditions.

Noida latest updates

“The two dog shelters will be inaugurated on Friday and will have dedicated space for sick or injured dogs. There will also be space for feeding the dogs which will not cause any problem to other residents who are scared of dogs.” stated SP Singh, DGM at the Noida Authority.

The resident associations are required to arrange these staff facilities while the Authority will be responsible for the basic facilities such as water supply. The main intention behind these shelters is to limit everyday disputes between animal lovers and the residents. There have been many times when a part of society has been against the idea of feeding stray dogs or say taking care of them. It increases the chances of dogs getting aggressive with the residents.

Animal lovers now understood that Indian law states that dogs can’t be dislocated randomly from their territorial area. Last year there has been many attacks including a toddler getting attacked by a stray dog around Sector 100, causing uproar among the residents. Because of this, dog shelters were built to protect against such mishaps.

Officials have further stated that these shelter homes can be used to take care of stray dogs until their behaviour changes towards people. As of now, Noida has only one large animal shelter in Sector-94 run by Dhyan Foundation.
