3. If the beneficiary maintains the Jan Dhan account for 6 months in a good way, then an overdraft facility of Rs 10,000 is provided. 

4. Beneficiaries are also entitled to an Accidental Insurance cover of Rs.1 lakh under the RuPay scheme.

5. Access to pension and insurance products is also provided under the scheme. 

 6. Under the scheme, a Direct Benefit Transfer option is also provided if the account holder is a beneficiary of other government schemes as well.

Eligibility Criteria for Opening an Account under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

Individuals must meet the following criteria to be eligible to open a PMJDY account.

• Should not have a bank account anywhere.

• Should be at least 10 years of age

• Must be a citizen of India

Documents Required to Open PMJDY Account

If an individual wishes to open a PMJDY Account, then there is a list of documents that are required to be submitted. The list is mentioned below. 

• Voter ID

• Driving license

• Aadhaar

• The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) issued job cards

• Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card

• Passport

• A photograph attested along with a letter from a Gazetted officer 

• Identity card with photo (issued by the regulatory or statutory authorities, public financial institutions, scheduled commercial banks, public sector undertakings, state or central government departments.

How to open a Jan Dhan Yojana Account?

To open a Jan Dhan Yojana Account the following procedure is required to be followed:

1. Get the application form (available in both Hindi and English) from any nearby bank branch. 

2. Fill it up with correct data: it has three sections where you are required to fill in details of yourself, the person you consider as your nominee, and the bank in which you want to open the Jan Dhan account. 

3. Attach the required documents.

4. Submit it at the bank branch.
