Every Year, 20 November is observed as Transgender Day of Remembrance or International Transgender Day of Remembrance, globally. Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) is an attempt to salute the struggle of those who sacrificed their lives fighting for their dignity. The day was started in 1999 in the remembrance of Rita Hester, who was an African American woman who was murdered in Allston, Massachusetts, on November 28, 1998.

The purpose of celebrating Transgender Day of Remembrance is to remember the violence faced by the transgender community for decades and those who lost their lives in this violence. Every year, on this day thousands of Transgender people gather at one place in countries like – the USA, Canada, Australia, and take the oath of living life respectfully.
