Every year, Universal Children’s Day is celebrated on 20 November to honour the children. The day is also known as World Children’s Day or International Children’s Day. The day commemorates the anniversary of the declaration of Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly in 1959. At the National level, in different countries, the day is observed on different dates. In India, National Children’s day has just passed on 14 November.

History, and Significance

The day has long-back history, as per reports of Wikipedia, the day celebration began in 1857, marking the date of the second Sunday of June. After that, it was first officially declared a national holiday by Republic of Turkey in 1925 setting the date of 23 April. At the global level, Universal Children’s Day was proclaimed at World Conference on Child Welfare in Geneva in 1925. On 14 December 1954, India and Uruguay requested the UN General Assembly to encourage Universal Children’s Day globally to promote mutual exchange and understanding among children. And in last, On 20 November 1959 UN General Assembly declared the Rights of the Child. Since, then every year Universal Children’s Day, World Children’s Day or International Children’s Day is being celebrated on 20 November.
