National Skill Development Mission: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (formerly the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, established in July 2014) was established in November 2014 to pursue the ‘Skill India’ objective in a ‘Predefined Sequence,’ combining magnitude and effectiveness of levelling up initiatives with pace.

National Skill Development Mission: Objectives

  • The project was created to bring together various industries and regions in terms of skill training programmes.
  • Implementing the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), which provides long and the short adapts to different that will lead to gainful activities and professional advancement.
  • Using the structure to keep a balance among manufacturing demands and the labour, resulting in a sustained existence as a result of focused training.
  • Delivering re-skilling & up-skilling opportunities to employees in the uncontrolled segments of the economy.
  • Ensure the highest training requirements through elevated instruction and institutes that are compared to national and universal norms, resulting in a highly qualified population and global career prospects.
  • Through specific target community organizations and specific target skills training activities, assist the weakened and underprivileged segments of society.
  • Through a credential distribution system, enable avenues for moving between both the vocational education institution and the higher school organization.
  • Maintaining the Labour Marketing Intelligence Network (LMIS), a federal database that will serve as a gateway for connecting the need and availability of skilled workers in the country.
  • On the one hand, the LMIS would provide individuals with crucial data about skill-building efforts across the nation.
  • On the other hand, it will serve as a foundation for tracking the efficiency of current skills acquisition in every Indian state.
