A man dressed as an elderly woman in a wheelchair hurled a cake at the famed Mona Lisa artwork by Leonardo da Vinci, which is on display at the Louvre in Paris. The painting, meanwhile, remained undamaged due to the glass screen that encased it. Witness accounts showed that the offender was a male in a wheelchair wearing a large wig, according to the Spanish magazine Marca. To everyone’s surprise, he abruptly jumped up and tried to destroy the Mona Lisa’s indestructible glass before smearing cake on the window.

Despite being led by museum personnel, the man reportedly confronted the people filming him and emphasised the necessity of protection of environment. Mona Lisa has been subjected to the anger of museum visitors before. According to The Guardian, a Russian woman flung a porcelain mug at the Mona Lisa in 2009, presumably irritated by her inability to obtain French citizenship. Fortunately, the picture was also shielded by bulletproof glass at the time.
