An unsettling news has come out of South Cinema. The renowned art director for several successful South Indian films Sunil Babu has passed away last night. Sunil Babu was 50 years old. The director worked on several hit projects like “Bangalore Days”, “Ghajini”, and many more. Recently, he was in talks for Thalapathy Vijay’s film “Varisu”. The filmmaker Anjali Menon has given information regarding the demise of the art director and the film industry is now in mourning.
Sunil Babu died at the age of 50 from a heart attack on the night of Thursday. According to reports the actor was admitted to the hospital for the last 3 days because of swelling in his legs. Sunil also worked as a producer and art director for Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. He began his career into the sector in 1984 as an assistant for the art director Sabu Cyril. For his outstanding work, Sunil Babu received many awards like State Film Award for Best Art Director for the film “Anantabhadra”, which was released in 2005. Sunil has shown his work in a variety of blockbuster films, including South Indian films as well as Hindi films like ‘Singh Is King’, ‘MSDhoni”, “Paa”, “Lakshya,” and “Special 26”. Beyond that, Sunil has also done art direction for Hollywood film “Rose”.
