TSPSC issues notification for recruitment to 563 Group I posts

TSPSC Issues Notification for Recruitment of 563 Posts
Hyderabad, Feb 19 (IANS) – The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has issued a fresh notification for the recruitment of 563 posts, just hours after cancelling the previous notification issued in 2022. The candidates can submit their online applications from February 23 to March 14. The preliminary test (objective type) is scheduled to be conducted in May/June, while the main examination (conventional type) will be held in September/October 2024.

The new notification comes after the earlier notification for 503 posts was cancelled due to the revamp of TSPSC, which was marred by a question paper leakage scam last year. In light of the cancellation, the Congress government has promised to fill two lakh posts this year and recently sanctioned 60 additional posts under Group I. It also announced raising the upper age limit from 44 to 46 years.

In April 2022, the TSPSC had issued a notification to fill 503 posts in 18 departments, with prelims exams conducted in October 2022. However, the exams were cancelled in March 2023 after the leakage of question papers and thorough investigation, leading to frustration among job aspirants.

The government’s failure to deliver on the promise of jobs had become a key issue in elections, leading the Congress to promise the revamp of TSPSC and the filling of 2 lakh vacancies within a year. Last month, former Director General of Police (DGP) M. Mahender Reddy was appointed as TSPSC chairman, along with five additional members. Mahender Reddy succeeded former IAS officer B. Janardhan Reddy, who resigned after the Congress party came to power.

The issuance of the new notification for 563 posts signals a fresh start for the recruitment process, as the TSPSC looks to rebuild its credibility and address the concerns of job aspirants. The upcoming exams will be closely watched to ensure that they are conducted with integrity and fairness, as the government aims to fulfill its promise of job opportunities for the people of Telangana.
