MCG officials under lens over 'irregularities' in govt scheme implementation

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has initiated an investigation against officials accused of irregularities in the implementation of the Chief Minister Urban Body Ownership Scheme. The scheme aims to provide ownership rights to those who have been in possession of land, shops, or houses for 20 years or more under urban bodies. The MCG Commissioner, Narhari Singh Bangar, has stated that disciplinary action is being sought against one official based on the findings of the Vigilance Wing’s earlier investigation.

In a report sent to the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, it was revealed that the zonal taxation officer, Dinesh Kumar, was allegedly involved in irregularities during the implementation of the scheme. The Vigilance Wing has thoroughly investigated the allegations, and further disciplinary action is being pursued against the concerned officer. Commissioner Bangar has assured that the involvement of other employees in these allegations is also being thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action will be taken as per the rules.

The Chief Minister Urban Body Ownership Scheme is a flagship initiative of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and any irregularities in its implementation are a matter of serious concern. The MCG’s proactive approach in initiating an investigation and pursuing disciplinary action demonstrates its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the administration of government schemes. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilant oversight in the implementation of public welfare programs.

The outcome of the investigation and the subsequent actions taken against the officials found guilty of irregularities will be closely monitored by the public and stakeholders. It is essential for the MCG to uphold the integrity of the Chief Minister Urban Body Ownership Scheme and address any administrative lapses to maintain public trust. As the investigation progresses, the MCG must ensure a fair and transparent process, and hold those responsible for any wrongdoing accountable.
