An exhibition bridging historical depth and contemporary vitality of Indian art

Bengaluru, Feb 20 (IANS) Gallery G in Bengaluru is all set to host ‘The Masters & The Modern: An Amalgamation of the Old & New World Classics’ from February 26 to March 31. The exhibition will feature the historical depth and contemporary vitality of Indian art.

The exhibition will pay tribute to major figures of Indian art such as V.S. Gaitonde, M.F. Husain, F.N. Souza, and Ganesh Pyne, known for their iconic contributions to Indian art. It will also showcase the works of modern maestros like Ram Kumar, Kalal Laxma Goud, K.G. Subramanyan, Badri Narayan, Achuthan Kudallur, and Jogen Chowdhury.

Additionally, a segment of the exhibition will be dedicated to Bengal masters and modernists including Purna Chandra Chakraborthy, Bijan Choudhury, Prokash Karmakar, Isha Mahammad, Rabin Dutta, Shyamal Mukherjee, and Chiitrovanu Mazumdar.

The Bengal artists in the exhibition aim to revive traditional Indian art forms and themes, focusing on mythological and spiritual themes with a focus on the beauty and spirituality of Indian culture.

Archana Shenoy, curator of the exhibition, said, “This exhibition is a homage to the enduring spirit of Indian art, celebrating its rich history and the continuous evolution that propels it into the future. It is a platform where the timeless works of our masters and the innovative explorations of modern artists converge, offering a narrative that is both reflective and forward-thinking.”

The exhibition is an opportunity for art enthusiasts to witness the convergence of old and new world classics in Indian art, showcasing the rich history and continuous evolution of the art form.
