Delhi man beaten over Rs 2,300 loan issue succumbs to injuries

New Delhi, Feb 22 (IANS) – A man, identified as Priyanshu, died after being thrashed by four individuals over a Rs 2,300 loan in the Burari area of north Delhi, police said on Thursday. Two men and two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the incident. The victim succumbed to his injuries 10 days after the attack.

According to police, the medico-legal case report received on February 11 indicated the victim’s condition as unfit for a statement and recommended referral to a higher medical centre. A case was initially registered under Sections 323 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code at Burari police station for further investigation.

Efforts were made during the investigation to locate eyewitnesses and CCTV footage of the incident, which led to the addition of Section 307 and 34 of the IPC to the case. The investigation also revealed that the victim and his friend had a quarrel with the accused over the loan, resulting in enmity between the parties.

The scene of the crime was inspected and photographed by the Crime team, and relevant exhibits were collected. The weapon of offense, a stick, was also recovered and taken into police possession.

On February 22, it was reported that Priyanshu had passed away during treatment at LNJP Hospital. The post-mortem of the deceased has been conducted, and Section 302 of the IPC has been added to the case.

The arrested individuals will now face charges in connection with the murder of Priyanshu. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure justice is served in this tragic incident.
