5-year-old files PIL seeking removal of liquor shop near school

A five-year-old student from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has filed a PIL seeking the removal of a liquor shop near his school. The petition alleges that the presence of the liquor shop leads to disturbances caused by people consuming alcohol. The court has directed the state government counsel to inquire into the matter.

The young petitioner, a student of a private school in Azad Nagar, Kanpur, expressed concerns over the proximity of the liquor shop to his school. He highlighted that the presence of the shop leads to disturbances and nuisance by individuals consuming alcohol in the vicinity.

The division bench comprising Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta and Justice Kshitij Shailendra has taken cognizance of the matter and directed the state government counsel to investigate why the licence of the liquor shop was renewed despite the establishment of the school nearby. The PIL has been scheduled for the next hearing on March 13, to further address the issue at hand.
