Official announcement of by-poll in Vilavancode, Tamil Nadu to follow EC guidelines

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Vilavancode assembly constituency is set for a by-poll following Congress MLA S. Vijayadharani’s switch to the BJP. The date for the by-poll will be announced as per Election Commission guidelines, according to state Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo.

Sahoo stated that 25 companies of para-military forces will be deployed in the state to enhance security ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The deployment is scheduled to be completed by March 7, ensuring safety during the polls.

In a move to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of voting, the CEO flagged off a cyclothon named ‘Pedal for Vote’ at Marina beach. With the DMK and AIADMK in a heated battle in Tamil Nadu, the BJP’s emergence could change the political landscape in the state, altering existing equations.
