Rajasthan government offers Rs 5L ex-gratia to family of man who died due to incorrect blood transfusion

Jaipur, March 5 (IANS) – The Rajasthan government has provided financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family of a man, Sachin Sharma, who recently passed away due to a “wrong blood transfusion” in Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Hospital.

Sachin Sharma, 23, died after allegedly receiving AB+ blood instead of his O+ blood group at SMS Hospital. The Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed condolences and stated, “Our sensitive government provided financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the victim’s family.”

Following Sachin Sharma’s death, his family members protested and demanded financial aid as he was the sole breadwinner. His sister and uncle even climbed a water tank until officials assured them of the financial assistance. The family has now received the aid in this time of immense sorrow.

The tragic incident highlights the importance of proper blood transfusion procedures in hospitals to prevent such errors from occurring in the future. The government’s swift response in providing financial assistance to the victim’s family showcases a commitment to aiding those affected by medical mishaps.
