Chandigarh Sees Surge in Visa Applications in 2023
Chandigarh witnessed a 20 per cent year-on-year growth in visa application volumes in 2023, exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 22 per cent. VFS Global reported robust demand from India and South Asia, with popular destinations including Canada, China, France, Germany, and the US.
According to VFS Global, the visa application volume from Chandigarh registered a 20 per cent year-on-year growth in 2023, exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 22 per cent. The demand pattern in Chandigarh mirrored the overall growth trend seen in India, with visa application volumes from the country reaching 93 per cent of the 2019 levels.
“We continued to witness robust demand from India and the entire South Asia region in 2023, which led to an extended peak outbound travel season with steady volumes witnessed throughout the year,” said Vishal Jairath, Head of South Asia at VFS Global. Popular destinations for travellers from India in 2023 included Canada, China, France, Germany, and the US.
The trend of strong demand for personalized services continued to be a defining factor in the 2023 visa application pattern. This surge in outbound travel from Chandigarh signifies a positive recovery in the travel and tourism industry post-pandemic.
