Delhi experiences low temperature of 8.8 degrees with poor AQI

New Delhi, March 7 (IANS) – The national capital of India experienced a chilly morning on Thursday with a minimum temperature of 8.8 degrees Celsius, five notches below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD also forecasted that the maximum temperature for the day would be around 25 degrees with a partly cloudy sky.

The overall air quality in Delhi remained under the ‘poor’ category on Thursday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) showing concerning levels. In the Anand Vihar area, PM 2.5 levels were recorded at 321, categorized as ‘very poor’, while PM 10 levels stood at 274, considered ‘poor’ by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, while 51-100 is ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 is ‘moderate’, 201-300 is ‘poor’, 301-400 is ‘very poor’, and 401-500 is ‘severe’. In Dwarka Sector 8, PM 2.5 levels were measured at 318 and PM 10 levels at 320, both falling into the ‘very poor’ category.

The city’s residents are advised to take necessary precautions and measures to protect themselves from the deteriorating air quality. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging the public to stay informed about the air quality levels in different areas of the capital.
