Hyundai N models could be heading towards a hybrid future soon – find out more here

Hyundai Motor Group is developing powerful hybrid powertrains for several vehicles, including potential use in Hyundai N models, as per Hindustan Times Auto Desk. The N performance sub-brand is considering a sporty hybrid model to bridge the gap between traditional petrol engines and electric vehicles.

In a recent discussion with Australian media, Albert Biermann hinted at the possibility of a hybrid N model under the N brand. While no official green light has been given, Biermann expressed confidence in the potential of a hybrid N car, suggesting the i30 Sedan N could be a candidate.

The current i30 Sedan N has a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, whereas the non-N version features a hybrid powertrain. Hyundai aims to move towards offering zero-tailpipe-emission lineup by 2035. Biermann remains optimistic about a hybrid N model, emphasizing the need to cater to market demands for electric vehicles in smaller segments.

Hyundai plans to incorporate its 2.5-litre turbo four-cylinder engine into future hybrid systems for Genesis luxury models, demonstrating a commitment to hybrid technology. Despite discontinuing some ICE models in Europe, Hyundai envisions a performance-oriented small car with a hybrid concept in its future lineup. The feasibility of such a project is uncertain at this stage.

Whether a hybrid N model materializes remains to be seen, but Biermann’s vision suggests that performance and sustainability can coexist in the world of N cars. Stay tuned for updates on Hyundai’s potential hybrid N model development.
