Women have achieved success across sectors based on merit: SG Tushar Mehta

New Delhi, March 9 (IANS) Women’s significant progress in various sectors based on merit was highlighted by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta at an event hosted by the Society of Indian Law Firms Ladies Group. He emphasized the need for recognition and advancement solely on competence, without special quotas or honors.

Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President of the Society of Indian Law Firms, called for increased participation of women in the judiciary and administrative roles, pointing out the current underrepresentation of women in key positions within the legal system. Shweta Bharti, Managing Partner at Hammurabi & Solomon Partners, discussed the economic benefits of gender diversity.

The event, held on International Women’s Day, featured discussions on challenges and opportunities for women in the legal profession. Panelists including Justice Mini Pushkarna and Senior Advocate Priya Hingorani explored setbacks, strides, and emerging challenges faced by women in law, emphasizing the importance of their representation in decision-making processes.
