BJP criticizes Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah for quietly releasing water to TN

Bengaluru, March 13 (IANS) The BJP leader of the opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress government for allegedly releasing water to Tamil Nadu. Ashoka accused the government of prioritizing Tamil Nadu over the water crisis in Bengaluru and the plight of farmers in Karnataka.

Ashoka accused Siddaramaiah of lying and stated, “The reports of Tamil Nadu’s dams brimming with water is proof that the Congress government in Karnataka is silently releasing Cauveri water to Tamil Nadu state.”

The BJP leader highlighted the water crisis in Bengaluru and the high number of farmer suicides in Karnataka, emphasizing that the government should focus on addressing these issues instead of providing water to Tamil Nadu.

Ashoka demanded an immediate stop to the release of water to Tamil Nadu and urged the Congress government to focus on resolving the water crisis in Bengaluru. He also criticized Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar for failing to deliver on promises and supporting the decision to release water to Tamil Nadu.

The BJP alleged that the water release to Tamil Nadu was to appease the DMK party at the expense of Karnataka’s people. However, both CM Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar denied the allegations of releasing water to Tamil Nadu. The political tensions continue as the government faces scrutiny over its water management decisions in the midst of a severe shortage in the state.
