NTPC achieves milestone of generating over 400 billion units of electricity in 2023-24

The NTPC Group has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the record 400 billion units of electricity generation in the current financial year. The Ministry of Power announced this accomplishment on March 13, 2024, highlighting the average Plant Loading Factor of 77.06 percent for NTPC’s coal stations.

In the previous financial year, NTPC had generated 399.3 BU of electricity, showcasing a consistent growth in its power generation capabilities. The company also set a new benchmark with the highest single-day power generation of 1,428 Million Units on September 1, 2023, further solidifying its position in the energy sector.

The Power Ministry commended the stellar performance of NTPC units, attributing it to the expertise of NTPC engineers and the robust Operation & Maintenance practices and systems in place. With an installed power capacity of 75.4 GW and 18 GW capacity under construction, which includes 5 GW of renewables, NTPC aims to achieve 60 GW of Renewable Energy capacity by 2032.

Apart from power generation, NTPC has diversified its business portfolio by venturing into new areas such as e-mobility, Waste-to-Energy, and Green Hydrogen solutions. The company has also participated in the bidding process for power distribution projects in Union Territories, showcasing its commitment to exploring innovative solutions in the energy sector.
