Sports Ministry approves Fouaad Mirza’s proposal for international competitions leading up to Paris Olympics

The Mission Olympic Cell has approved equestrian Fouaad Mirza’s proposal to compete in five competitions ahead of the Paris Olympics. Mirza, currently the 1st Reserve in Olympic Group Rankings, will receive financial assistance for events in Kronenberg, Sopot, Marbach, Strzegom, and Baborowko.

Under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme, the Ministry will cover Mirza’s airfare, accommodation, entry fees, and equipment costs. Additionally, racewalker Priyanka Goswami has received approval to train in Australia under coach Brent Vallance for 34 days, with all expenses covered by TOPS funding.

Table tennis players Swastika Ghosh, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Archana Kamath, and Manika Batra have also received financial assistance for upcoming competitions. From WTT Feeder events to WTT Champions Incheon, the Ministry will cover their travel, accommodation, food, and training expenses.

In Para-sports, para-athletes Singhraj Adhana, Pranav Soorma, Nithya Sre, Mandeep Kaur, and Rinku Hooda have also received approval for sports equipment, sparring partner’s fees, physiotherapist fees, and financial assistance for participation in the Marrakech 2024 World Para-Athletics Grand Prix event.
