Another MP quits and joins Congress, causing a shockwave in BRS

In a major blow to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), G. Ranjith Reddy, the sitting MP from Chevella, has resigned from the party and decided to join Congress. Reddy cited dissatisfaction with BRS leadership for not renominating him, leading to his decision to switch parties.

Ranjith Reddy’s resignation comes amidst the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and after being denied renomination from Chevella. In his resignation letter to BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Reddy expressed his discontent with the current political scenario in the state, prompting him to seek an alternative path.

The BRS has already announced Kasani Gnaneshwar Mudiraj as its candidate for Chevella, which consists of Assembly segments around Hyderabad. The Congress party had initially nominated Patnam Sunitha Reddy for the seat, but her candidature was withheld at the last minute, potentially paving the way for Ranjith Reddy to secure the ticket.

Ranjith Reddy’s decision to join Congress marks the fifth sitting MP of BRS to switch allegiances in recent weeks, with other members defecting to either Congress or BJP. This shifting landscape reflects the changing political dynamics in Telangana as parties gear up for the upcoming elections.
