Ahmedabad Tightens Promotional Material Cleanup as Model Code of Conduct Takes Effect

In a bid to uphold the Model Code of Conduct, authorities in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad removed over 7,000 promotional materials from public and private properties following the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections schedule by the Election Commission of India. The removal process began on the first day of the code’s implementation, with various items being taken out from different locations.

The Election Commission of India’s poll schedule announcement on Saturday prompted the swift action by authorities in Ahmedabad to rid public and private properties of promotional materials. A total of 7,028 items were removed, including wall paintings, posters, banners, and other promotional materials.

The district election machinery, under the supervision of District Election Officer and Collector Pravina D.K., played a crucial role in overseeing the removal process in Ahmedabad. The ongoing efforts to clear public and private properties of promotional materials aim to ensure a fair and unbiased election process in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Gujarat is set to go to polls on May 7, with the counting of votes scheduled to take place on June 4. The removal of promotional materials from public and private properties in Ahmedabad is a proactive step to maintain the integrity of the election process and uphold the principles of the Model Code of Conduct.
