Bengal Governor requests report on confrontation between Trinamool and BJP in Dinhata
West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose has requested a detailed report from the state government regarding the recent clashes between BJP and Trinamool Congress supporters in Dinhata, Cooch Behar district. The clashes occurred on Tuesday night, involving Union minister Nisith Pramanik and Trinamool Congress MLA Udayan Guha.
The Governor is taking the matter seriously and has asked for a report from the Director General of Police, Sanjoy Mukherjee. Additionally, the Governor has inquired about the medical condition of Dhiman Mitra, the local police officer who was injured while trying to control the clashes. This move indicates the Governor’s commitment to ensuring peaceful elections in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
To address grievances and maintain peace during the polls, the Governor has announced the opening of a portal at Raj Bhavan and intends to be on the streets from 6 a.m. on the first day of voting. He emphasized the importance of conducting voting in a festive atmosphere and directed administrative and police officials to ensure violence-free elections.
