Delhi Assembly Speaker: Kejriwal to run government from prison

In a surprising turn of events, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal may have to run the government and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from prison if he is arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel made this statement on Thursday, right before Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in connection with an alleged excise policy scam.

Goel expressed his concerns about the arrest, stating, “Everyone is aware that Manish Sisodia was arrested without any evidence against him. Additionally, hundreds of people have been detained by the ED so far. The aim is to silence Arvind Kejriwal before the elections.”

Following Kejriwal’s arrest, scores of AAP workers and leaders, including MLAs Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj, protested near his residence as the ED team questioned him. AAP MLA Imran Hussain suggested that there may be a deliberate plot to impede the progress of AAP and Arvind Kejriwal, as they enjoy strong support from the people of Delhi.

AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar accused the BJP of desperation, claiming that they are trying to prevent Kejriwal from participating in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The move by the ED to arrest Kejriwal has sparked strong reactions from AAP members and supporters, who are vowing to stand by their leader in this challenging time.
