JD-U MLA Bima Bharti Resigns, Joins RJD

Patna, March 24 (IANS) JD-U MLA Bima Bharti resigned from the party’s primary membership and joined the RJD on Saturday. She shared her resignation letter dated March 22, 2024, on social media, announcing her departure from JD-U.

The RJD confirmed her joining with a post on social media, stating, “MLA from Rupauli, Purnia, and former Bihar Minister Bima Bharti today resigned from the primary membership of the JD-U and joined RJD.”

Sources reveal that Bima Bharti had been in contact with RJD leaders and might receive the party ticket from Purnea Lok Sabha seat. Elected on the JD-U ticket from Purnea’s Rupauli assembly constituency in 2020, she is popular among the voters of the Extremely Backward Caste community in the region.

There are speculations that she may resign from the MLA post in the next few days. Bharti’s move to switch parties is expected to have an impact on the political landscape of the state.
